Welcome to Epiphany

For four decades, Epiphany has gathered every Sunday in this corner of Chantilly. We are a parish committed to encountering God through beautiful worship and believing prayer, to building a multi-generational congregation that loves children and families, and to equipping every member to publicly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Whether you’re returning to faith, exploring it for the first time, or simply curious what an Anglican service feels like, the seat is yours.

Beyond Sunday

Get Involved. Have fun.

From the annual free Sports Camp for neighborhood kids and monthly seniors' lunches to Shrove Tuesday pancakes before Lent and parish weekends in the woods, life at Epiphany happens well beyond Sunday morning. Some of these events are how we welcome our neighbors in; others are simply how we enjoy each other's company outside the pews.

Take a look at what's coming up — there's almost always room for one more.

What's going on

Each week our rector, Fr. Peter, writes a short letter to the parish — sometimes a reflection on the coming Sunday's readings, sometimes a pastoral note, sometimes a story of where God has shown up among us. You'll also find recent sermon recordings, photos from parish events, and notes on the seasons of the church year.

The newsletter is the easiest way to stay current — browse the latest below, or sign up to get it in your inbox.

Serve

At Epiphany, "ministry" isn't a department — it's everyone, doing what we can with what we have. That looks like packing food for kids at Coates Elementary, leading worship at Arbor Terrace memory care, teaching Sunday school, praying through the parish prayer line, or supporting our partners in Sudan.

There's a way to start that fits your week — whatever shape it's already in.

What people wonder before walking in

Church of the Epiphany is an Anglican parish in Chantilly, Virginia, gathering for worship since 1985. We are part of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic and the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), and we worship using the 2019 Book of Common Prayer. Our name means appearance — the appearance of God in Jesus Christ — and that’s what we gather every Sunday to encounter.

Sunday Holy Communion is celebrated at 8:00am (a quieter, traditional service) and 10:30am (with music, livestreamed on YouTube). On Wednesdays we hold a Simple Eucharist at noon, and Morning Prayer is offered at 9:00am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Visitors are welcome at any service.

Expect a service of about 75 minutes that follows a printed bulletin, so you can follow along easily even on a first visit. You’ll hear Scripture read aloud, sing hymns, listen to a roughly 20-minute sermon, and share in Holy Communion. There’s no dress code, you won’t be asked to introduce yourself, and you’ll be welcomed without being singled out.

All baptized and believing Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion at Epiphany — you don’t need to be Anglican, a member, or confirmed. Children too young to receive, or anyone who would prefer not to, is warmly invited to come forward for a prayer of blessing instead. Simply cross your arms over your chest at the rail and the priest will pray for you.

Both traditions trace their roots to the Church of England, but they are now separate North American denominations. Church of the Epiphany is part of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), formed in 2009 to continue historic Anglican faith and worship — the authority of Scripture, the historic creeds, and the Book of Common Prayer. We left the Episcopal Church in 2006 over differences in theology and biblical authority.
